Looks like his transfer to Spurs is imminent.

In a year and a half, he has gone from USL player to MLS rookie to MLS All-Star to a surprise player in the 30-man USMNT player pool to surprise player on the World Cup team to impact player at the World Cup to signing with Spurs in the Premier League.

What a ride for this kid. I hope he gets a real chance at White Hart Lane. Plenty of Europa, and January will be a time with some injuries, so he could get a crack at things.

I don't watch a lot of MLS, so I was pleasantly surprised by his service during the world cup

Kind of like Gedion Zelalem going from High School to the bench for Arsenal in less than a year.

Except that Phillip Lahm is perhaps the most intelligent defender on earth.

Yedlin still struggles with elementary defensive duties. He's incredibly raw.

Same here. I thought that's what the MLS was asking for.

He's not going to play for Spuds for awhile unless Kyle Walker has a complete meltdown.

Spurs constantly fire managers and over-sign in the transfer window. Danny Rose looked like a future England fullback, and is used sparingly by Spuds and has gone out on loan 4 times. The pressure to finish ahead of Arsenal and in a European position requires that Tottenham remain a competitive team in England. One shitty performance from Yedlin, like his garish showing in a 5-0 loss to New England earlier this season, could doom him to the bench.

Yedlin just might be our Glen Johnson.

um

not really since he spent time in German Youth set ups before moving to Maryland while still getting German call ups. Then to Arsenal's youth team.

Yedlin is officially the most overhyped player in our pool.

He's really fast. He plays a good cross. He's got some good ideas.

But his touch is still iffy. He's got miles to go -- if not light years -- to be an elite international defender, but he isn't craft enough to play on the wing. I don't know if he has a left foot.

He is the typical American star talent, the epitome of "run fast, try hard."

His future is bright, but comparing him to Philip Lahm is akin to the poster on the rant who once said Garrett Temple was the next John Havlicek.

Pump the brakes. Keep expectations reasonable and hope the kid continues to develop. There's talent there. But let's slow down a bit

Id much rather him go to Italy and really learn how to defend and develop some good defensive positional awareness.

I agree. Glen was never the best defender, but his attacking ability made up for it. So much so that even today other teams still have to respect his ability going forward. He's lost something along the way, and he has become hard to watch. But let's not forget just how good and dangerous he used to be: LINK

If Yedlin can approximate vintage Glen Johnson, then I would be ecstatic.

Which, to be fair, he does really, really well.

I'm just afraid that he will be stuck behind Kyle Walker in the near-future while he improves defensively.

Maybe they have developed a gentleman's agreement because of the Dempsey transfer. Kind of the same relationship they have with Madrid.

He would be a good fit on the right wing in a 3-5-2 system because of his recovery speed.

Poor guy. Bless his heart. Thoughts are with him at this difficult time.

Is this supposed to be a compliment?

Yedlin should play as an attacking midfielder, moving to Rb, can happen later in his career.
