Thinking about tackling this idea. The island does not have plumbing so I would have to break into the slab and run new plumbing from existing sink site to island. Seems like a good bit of work but not something that is out of the question completely. Seems like a pretty straight forward process but maybe there is something I'm not considering?

You will have to break slab all the way to the existing water and sewage lines. Which also means you will tear out anything that is on that floor... tile, cabinets, appliances, etc

Would never take this on. Definitely not worth it IMO.

Well new cabinets and flooring is almost a guarantee. I dont know much about plumbing but would I not be able to tie into the existing plumbing under my cabinets where my original sink is?

In the wall or wherever your existing sink drain runs too, but not in/under the cabinet itself

I would not try to do this myself, but a GC can give you an idea of what you are looking at and a good plumber can give you an estimate of what it would take and cost

They dust from this will be very bad. I have seen plenty of slab accesses. You would need to remove the island cabinets and the sink cabinets counter-tops, etc. If you aren't doing a full kitchen remodel it isn't worth it.

I have a second sink on my island in the kitchen. It was there when the house was built so I didn't have to worry about construction. I can tell you that unless you want to move your one and only sink there, it's definitely not worth it. No real advantage for me.
