Abita Springs area fishing

Visiting the girlfriend's family around Abita Springs and might be able to squeeze in a half day or so fishing trip. I don't want to drag the boat 6 hrs for that so will just throw the yak in the bed for some exploring and fishing within a half hour drive. Would be chunking arty's looking for specks, reds, flatties, or bass. A brief search of paddling trails yields the following:
Cane Bayou trail - looks to be about a 4 mile round trip paddle from 190 and the lake.
Bayou Lacombe - sounds like there is a launch 1/2 mile from the lake
Tchefuncte River
Anyone have any recommendations for some inshore or even just freshwater fishing in the area? Thanks.

Bayou LaCombe is probably your best bet.

I'd do Cane Bayoi in a Yak. It's smaller, serene, very little motor boat traffic. Launch on hwy 190 across from fire station. Really neat area ideal for paddlers

dont do the Tchefuncte, especially on the weekend, will be thousands of boats out there, and there arent really any fish

True story. I'd do Cane OR launch at Bayou Castine at the harbor and paddle east along lake shore in front of Font state park OR paddle upstream and fish the swampy areas and marinas.
