In which round do you think would be best to select Brandin Cooks? I have a feeling he's going to have an awesome rookie year, but I don't want to over-reach if there's more established players on the board.

10th or later...which means I'll never draft him bc he is going much higher than that. Drafting rookie WRs is not a wise investment

I probably won't have him in any leagues because you are going to have to really reach.

He's going in the 10th/11th in most Mocks I've done. Depends on your league though. If it's a lot of NO/LA owners, then who knows.

I think he's a good bet for 80 catches and 6-7 touchdowns. Yardage will depend on his YAC. Could be 800... could be 1,000.

I feel comfortable taking him in the 8th. That said, I may reach. I don't have any issues making him my WR3.

Anyone who is not a member of his immediate family should realize that this is too high.

Umm I'd say that's a very adventurous bet.

Not that adventurous. He's a lock for 70 catches... 80 is right around the corner.

Kennan Allen was the best rookie WR last year and he got 71. And the chargers didn't really have anyone else to throw it to.

The next closest rookie is Gio with 56 catches

As much as I hope Cooks brings down a reign of terror on the NFL, expectations are WAY too high.

Okay?

Look at Darren Sproles. He's never had an issue catches 70 passes in a spread out offense. Cooks will be used in similar roles and his snap count will exceed what Sproles had. He's also the Saints most explosive player and should be starting in the slot. I believe my projections for him are very realistic. We shall see.

80 receptions is adventurous for any rookie WR. Darren sproles is pretty irrelevant to that since he was an established player when he came to New Orleans.

If he's a good as advertised, 80 catches is attainable. Someone has to catch beside Jimmy. Colston is slower than me. Stills, not too sure about him being a volume catcher. And if the Saints throw as many screens as last year I'll throw up.

If he maintains his reception to TD ratio from last year, he won't need volume.

Drew Brees put 88 and 70 balls on Reggie and Colston their rookie years, respectively. In the same season

You gotta take into account the system. This isn't a case like Tavon Austin in STL where he's going to a shitty system with a shitty QB

Payton is going to design ways to get the ball in his hands and Brees will make sure he puts it on him

I hear ya. My comments were in reference to Cooks catching 80 balls.

That doesn't make any sense. Darren Sproles is relevant to the conversation because that's the type of role Cooks will fill in the Saints offense regardless if he was an established player or not. He's also relevant when I compare their explosiveness, quickness, and speed which Cooks appear to have the edge with... furthering my point that it is attainable. The talent and opportunity is there for him as long as he doesn't screw up which I don't see happening because his head is screwed on right.

I would say it's relevant.

Sproles had 5 years under his belt before joining the Saints. And as far as roles, Sproles is a RB. Cooks is a WR.

He might hybrid some, but you're basically saying since Sproles caught 70+ with the Saints as a RB in his 6th, 7th and 8th years in the league - that Cooks should good for 70+ as a rookie WR.

It's apples and oranges.

I'm not saying Cooks can't or won't got for 80/1000/8, just that the Sproles comparison has more to it than just RECs.
