I don't live in Lakeview (Metairie) but for those of you who do, I feel sorry for your vehicles! My sister-in-law lives there and when my wife and I visit her, I always dread driving on the neighborhood roads. I can say without a doubt that the roads in Lakeview are the WORST roads I have ever driven on, period! The roads in many areas have buckled badly and there are elevations and potholes everywhere. I've read that the two main culprits for the condition of the roads not just in Metairie but in all of New Orleans is the massive tree roots that the roads were built over, and of course Hurricane Katrina being the other culprit for the condition of the roads. Recently when we visited, many people in Lakeview had signs in their front yards saying, " I pay my taxes! Fix my roads!!" It's just unbelievable how torn up and messed up the roads are in that area.

I know it takes a lot of money to fix this problem and I don't know how soon the City of New Orleans is going to fix this problem. I love New Orleans and Metairie is a great suburb to live in. For y'all who live in this area, do y'all know if there's any plans to fix the roads?

I think lakeview is still actually new orleans even though it's only a couple hundred feet from metarie. But I moved there last month and I just thank god I drive a truck every time I go home

Man, it's just unreal, it almost like a giant worm slithered underneath the roads and made them buckle to epic proportions.

Lakeview is not Metairie. If it was, the streets would be better.

Lakeview is not in Metairie. I live in Metairie and the roads are replaced with small visible cracks in my neighborhood.

They're doing a lot of sub-surface drainage/water work in lakeview right now. I imagine the thought is to do a wholesale fix when all that is finished. Some streets are decent, however, the majority of them are as bad as anywhere you will see in the country if I had to say.

Hopefully the city can fix the streets in Lakeview, it really is a nice place to live.

I work a lot in lakeview, try pulling a trailer on those streets.

But yes, Nicaragua and Honduras have better roads than Lakeview.

Sure they have a "plan", it'll include higher taxes and subpar work.

The streets are the direct result of building a neighborhood on a swamp.

The main reason the steets suck is because the ground sinks. The main reason it sinks is because the storm water drainage set up in Nola proper pumps water out rather than allowing some of it to be absorbed. Jefferson parish has a much better system.
