Anybody eaten at The Blue Crab on Lake Pontchartrain?
Posted by MrPackSix on 8/7/14 at 1:20 pm00
Thinking of going there for dinner tonight and have never been. What some good things to try out at this place? I like oysters but just seeing what else they have that's good
TIA
TIA
I've went a few months ago. The location is nice. It was a spring when we went so it wasnt too hot and we were able to sit outside and see the boats come in. The food was good although nothing really stood out. I like The Blue Crab better than Brisbi's.

Stick to the basic fried stuff and it will be good. I've been twice and it is ok. They seemed to have been having slight service problems both times.

Thought it was ok. Onion Rings were real good. Everything else was just ok. I prefer Brisbi's right down the street.

Brisbi's
I find their food to be slightly better, but the atmosphere and service to be alot better.
Love the set up with the bands on Sunday(and some Saturday) evenings.
Haven't been in while, but looking forward to it when it gets a little cooler.

Their shrimp and grits are pretty descent. But other than that there's nothing to rave about. You are better off hitting up acme for oysters.

Blue Crab & Brisby's=better than Landrys...but not Nola Food & Spirits good or Casamentos good.
Went there the other day for lunch. First time there and it wasn't crowded but it was late in the afternoon on a weekday. Ordered calamari for an app. Was solid, said they fry all food in cottonseed oil....sounds expensive. Prices were mostly pretty reasonable but I didn't want fried seafood. I ordered the fish of the day. Average size portion of red snapper with muniere sauce, piece of buttered bread, and some grilled veggies. Pretty good. Then I got the bill and realized that the seafood platter for my wife was about $15, app was around $8, and my fish of the day was $30!! I blame myself for not asking what the "Market Price" was, but that dish was not even close to worth that kind of money. That's super high end price for a lunch entree. I guess I felt a bit ripped off but lesson learned. Nothing else on the menu was close to that price so I guess I was just caught off guard. Service was not bad, had a friendly waitress, she just might want to mention what the Market Prices are when selling lunch items.
