Shooting lessons

I'm a fair shot, but I was wondering if anyone here had ever taken shooting lessons (shotgun) and if they thought it was worth it. I've heard good things but from a guy who's not a hunter.

I've honestly never even heard of shotgun shooting lessons

I have heard of some folks around here talking sporting clays and skeet shooting lessons. Apparently there is some European method that is supposed to be the shite but I haven't looked into it. Dude is getting $100 an hour for his lessons.

There are certified British shooting school instructors at my local sporting clays range. They had a Groupon type deal a few years ago for 2 hours of instruction for something like $15 if you had 3 or more people.
I learned a few things including that I was often holding my shotgun like a rifle. That small change of where I mounted the shotgun really increased my success on the course. Also learned that the gun I was using wasnt a good fit for me at 5'8" and better suited to someone taller. I ultimately invested in a different gun.
I struggled with picking up clays passing side to side instead of coming toward or away from me. Some useful tips there and I've improved a lot on those.
It cant hurt and I'm glad I did it...

They have a few guys at Hunters run that offer lessons, I have thought about it but never signed up
They also have a fun shoot every Thursday evening...50 targets on the sporting clay course with dinner for about $20...always a good time and you do not have to be a member to shoot, just show up

This ^^^. Some specialize in skeet, others in trap or sporting clays.
There are lots of highly regarded pros in Houston that teach sporting clays shooting -- Bobby Fowler (teaches at Greater Houston Gun Club) and Gil/Vickie Ash (teach at American Shooting center in Katy) come to mind as the best-known.
