Tomorrow, Tuesday, in Kansas it's long-term incumbent Pat Roberts vs. Tea Party favoriye Joe Wolf, and on Thursday in Tennessee, it's long-time incumbent Lamar Alexander vs. TP-backed Joe Carr. Both incumbents have generous leads, but as we saw in MS and VA, ya never know till ya know.

Four other states have primaries this week but the only Senate primary of note is in Hawaii, and that's between the incumbent Dem and a strong Dem challenger. The Dem Governor of Hawaii is also on the verge of losing in his primary on Saturday.

All of the above races will be won with a plurality of the votes, no run-offs in place.

Living in Kansas, the race has gotten closer between Milton Wolf and Pat Roberts. Roberts was up 33 a few weeks ago and the lead is down to 9 according to a poll released today.

If Roberts wins, it'll be because Wolf really didn't run a good campaign and the controversy of him posting X-Rays on his Facebook page. Roberts was there for the taking and if a Tiahrt or Kobach type would have ran, Pat would be toast tomorrow.

Oh well.

I see that Tiahrt is trying to win his old House seat back from Pompeo today. It he manages to pull the upset, that would have significance nationally, because Pompeo is one of the 7 Republicans on the House Select Committee on Benghazi, which begins its work in September.

I do agree that , if turnout was light today, Roberts could have some anxious moments in the early going.

Results should start coming in pretty soon from Michigan, where Justin Amash is expected to easily put away his challenger. (I'm not an Amash guy, but I know he's a favorite among many on this board.)

Polls close in 10 minutes in the great state of Michigan. Hopefully Amash coasts.

You will then be pleased to hear that Tea Party incumbent congressman Kerry Bentivolio of Michigan is looking very early like he is going to be a one-and-done representative.

I hate Lamar Alexander. Maybe I should vote for Carr.....

I haven't done my homework this time. I imagine Alexander will run away with it. Is Carr toxic?

Carr is pretty solid from what I've seen and read. I just think he was underfunded and never really got it going until recently.

I'm expecting Roberts and Alexander to win in the 15-18% range.

UPDATE 8:05pm: Roberts 51.8 Wolf 37.5 2% reporting

Amash cruising to victory, up by 13 right now.

Benghazi Select Committee member Pompeo thrashing a former congressman in his primary and the aforementioned Bentivolio is getting crushed BAD.

Yeah, not much of a chance, but my wife and I are voting for him. Not sure yet about my fresh 18yo...

If nothing else, Alexander needs a wakeup call. Corker too...

For those who missed it today, Virgina will have two separate elections on Nov. 4th to fill Cantor's seat - one for the remainder of his term and the other for the next Congress. Since it's likely 99.9% of voters will vote for the same guy on both of their ballots, Brat supporters should be pleased now that Cantor is leaving early.

Wolf needs to run up the score in KC suburbs and Wichita area.

Roberts bringing in the federal ag money will help him out west but its rural out there.

Here's my question: if you are generally doing a pretty decent job as an incumbent, should you ever have a close primary race? Shouldnt primaries be 60-65%+ maybe 70%?

Not really, because of the low voter turnout. Many candidates win bigger in the general election than they do in their own primary.
