Heading out of Venice on Saturday......have some questions:
1. How many ice chests to tote home our catch? Have 6 people going, will a couple 120's be enough for the fillets if we have a good day?
2. What is the best restaurant in Venice? Cypress cove or Venice marina?
3. If I forego Dramamine, if I do get seasick will it do me any good to take it on the boat?

dramamine or the patches need to be taken 3 to 6 hours pre launch to get into your system IMO...I think they tell you 1/2 hour to 1 hour pre activity...

No. Could make it worse. Get Bonine instead and take as directed. Don't be miserable.

I worked as a deckhand in Grand Isle and had several trips where guys would come straight from the bars full of piss and vinegar. After a 2 hour boat ride they faded pretty quick. I caught a lot of fish for dudes too sick to stand up just so they could show their wives they went fishing. It wasn't fun for anyone.

Is sea sickness really that prevalent? I've never been sick on a fishing boat and been offshore plenty. Only been with 1 guy who got sick and he just didn't feel well. Never threw up or anything and drank the whole time.

I've never had it, but I haven't been offshore as much as some. My cousin gets it EVERYTIME we go out, even taking shite for it.

I've had seasickness once and I fish offshore pretty regularly however that one time was enough to never leave the dock without Bonine again

I've seen many people's trips get ruined by it I think its mostly a mental thing with greenies they think about it too much

I've seen plenty of people get sick. Some drinking. Some not. If you don't have enough experience to know if you are susceptible to it I just can't understand not taking a Bonine for insurance. That's a lot of money to spend to lie down in a boat while your buddies are having fun.

Main target is tuna, but hope to hit some amberjack and cobia on the way in.

That's my only....and let me expound on my experience a little more. Regular inshore/bay/island fishing, a couple snapper trips, and sail fishing out of Costa Rica. Never had an issue.

Maybe I should just get someone to slip me a sugar pill and tell me it's bonine.

Take dramamine the night before. It will make you sleepy. Take the next one the morning of said trip.

Bring as many ice chests as you can pack into your truck. Kill everything and freeze to discard later cause you won't eat all of it. Especially tuna, catch your limit and do it while you can, cause it won't keep due to the high oil content (oil doesn't freeze and rots). Who cares about our future generations? They can fish for farm raised catfish in a future sunken landfill.

I pretty much agree with everything posted...

get some bonine and hand it out like candy...no reason for anyone not to take it...

bring ice chests, too many is a nuisance....too few is a disaster...

figure out how much bottled water you will need and then ice down three times that much...it always amazes me how much you can drink in that salt air with the sun bearing down on you...leave the beer back at the truck for when you return...

don't drink a drop the night before and do everything you can to get some sleep...he who has the most fun the night before is invaraiably the one who has a miserable trip the next day...

ETA: get yourself some bullfrog sunscreen and coat yourself before the sun rises...heavy doses on your nose, tops of ears and tops of feet...
