It's a pretty big part of my internship, and it's fricking miserable. Extremely monotonous

The people you call hate you more than you hate your job. Trust me.

It could be worse. You could be cold calling to find a job.

As much as I hate it, I think everyone should know how to do it.

It's never really bothered me, I do it a lot, mainly face to face. First thing I do is visit a customer I already have, because they are always glad to see you. After that, head into the cold stuff, so when you get shot down, it doesn't bother you as much.

The worst part is that I'm really good at it, so it's basically all they ever want me to do. Meanwhile the rest of the office gets all the incoming calls. frick that.

Worst job I ever had in my life was my attempt in sales.
Obviously some jobs are better than others and alot can depend on how good of a product you are selling and what the situation is, but it is a pretty shitty feeling to go bug people to spend time listening to your sales pitch when you can tell they are busy and don't give a damn about what you are pushing.

I worked in purchasing for 10 years and sales people annoyed the shite out of me.

somewhat true. you always have to find new customers so you always are cold calling. that being said, hang in there. Once your client base is established, you wont be cold calling as much. Good luck.

I'm not in sales, so I can't imagine what it's like. I just know that I felt really awkward trying to grow my business when I went solo.

I love sales, but cold calling is boring and sucks. I'm an insurance agent and I also sell some financial products. It's rewarding, and you feel gangsta as hell when you contract a couple large policies on a cold call, but man can it take a while.

I had a job that I cold called about 10% of the time. worst part of my job. it was weird though, because I was selling new stuff to existing customers sometimes (so guys I knew), and they told me after my sales pitch " I was a different person than the one they know. be the other person."

I know I suck at sales

rule of thumb is that you have to call on a new customer an average 7 times before they will buy from you.

you a chick? I always feel sorry for men who have to cold call. If a hot woman comes to call on me, I dont care what she is selling, I'll see her. If its a man- call for an appointment.

Unfortunately no. Girls in sales have it so freaking easy.

I love getting cold calls. I like to make them think I'm interested in what they're selling and then pull the rug out from under their feet. Great entertainment!
