This is going to be mostly for indoor use at home, so portability and battery life are secondary concerns. I'm not an audiophile, just looking for a good quality speaker to stream music too. I'm leaning towards the JBL Flip 2, any other recommendations or warnings against the Flip 2?

here you go

jambox refurbs for $89

jawbone is a great company..when a refurb i bought didn't work right they replaced it no-questions-asked with a brand new one. even cross shipped it.

exactly what you want and you can add the 'sexy voice' that tells you when your battery is low and that 'she's on and ready to go'.

best purchase i ever made and its small enough to tote around the house or to the pool.

the logitech is nice but bulky.

not a fan of the sound quality of the sol republic or the bose (just doesn't get loud enough if you have a couple friends over or its on your patio). the sol is cool from a techie standpoint..but again the sound is lacking.

i really disagree with the rating of the 'midsize' jambox.

sound is a subjective thing for people..but the verge relegating the jawbone jambox reeks more of 'oh there's newer & cooler' and not a true comparison of the sound quality.

my advice? just go to best buy or someplace that lets you pair up your phone and try a few and order the one online that you liked.

This Auvio is great

I am sort of an audiophile. I know it is a radio shack brand, but it has a unbelievable sound. It's small, very portable, and has a great battery life to boot. You can control volume and seek on the actual speaker. It also works as a hands-free calling speaker as well. They make a bigger one of this version for home use. I still rather the smaller ones sound performance.

I have had the Ihome, Logitech, Sony, Jams Plus, and JBL. The auvio is the best value for the sound quality and overall performace IMO.

Jam Plus at Best Buy

The Jam plus would be the second choice. They have the ability(if you purchase 2) to make them stereo with a L and R speaker. They produce great sound for their size and come in different colors.

Jawbone doesn't rate highly. I recently bought two on Amazon. One was the Oontz Angle for around $60. It's really good for around the house or in the backyard. It rated highly by audiophiles.

Then I got this one...waterproof. Can take calls on speakerphone. Has been used in the shower daily for the last four months with one weeklong trip to Gulf Shores thrown in where it performed perfectly in the sand, by the pool, in the lazy river, and by the hot tub at the condo.

For less than $20...and I have charged it once since it's initial charge. Seriously.

That's what I use in my bathroom in the mornings and also by the pool. It packs a ton of power with really good bass. It's around $50.

ETA: Someone posted the newer version a couple of posts above me and it's $38. Even better!

BlueSYNC OR3

This one is only $20 and gets plenty loud for the patio/beach (5w output). It plays forever also. Also did I mention it's $20?

I went into Best Buy over the weekend and listened to the JBL Flip 2, JBL Clip, Jawbone Jambox, and Sony SRS-X2. The Jambox seemed significantly lower quality than any of the 4. "Less rich" is probably the best way to describe the deficiency. The JBL Clip was surprisingly good considering it's only $50 and I liked the Sony SRS-X2 the best.
