What's the hive mind on refurbished electronics? I've heard that they go through it with a fine toothed comb so they are as good as new. I need to buy 3 55" TVs. A few hundred bucks off each one would be nice.

Nicely done.

I've heard good things about it, as long as you're buying from a legit place.

I've bought a few refurbs, and you would never know the difference, that they weren't brand new... they all came with warranties still also. I'd go with it

Check warranties with the refurbs. I know that Apple has the same warranty as their new stuff (or at least used to) with their refurbs. I have no issues with refurb gear as long as they still carry good warranties.

Have bought several thing refurb, can't tell the difference.

All electronics break down quick today, or at least become extinct quick.

I bought my MacBook Air from the Apple refurb store 2 years ago and it's never missed a beat. Bought my mom an iPad 3 from same and it has worked out great.

The fact that the Apple refurb store stuff comes with a one year warranty takes a lot of the risk out of it.

I've bought a refurbed guitar amp, air compressor for a nail gun (and other tools) and a laptop computer. All worked great on arrival and still do.

I am always a little leery of that shite, but honestly have never had a bit of problems with one...I really think a lot of them are returns that are not really broken...

I've never had a refurb product that wasn't essentially perfect. Refurbs include a lot of items that were simply customer returns due to buyer's remorse or a defect that is easily repaired by the manufacturer. They sell them as refurbs because it's against the law to resell them as new.

We're an ISO9001 facility. We protect that.

If you order one of our products, and even before it arrives, contact us and say, "Oops, I goofed. I ordered a WYZ123x when I meant too order a WZY123v.", when that first item comes back to us, even if it is not opened, we no longer sell it as new. It is removed from the box, QC'd, repackaged, and sold as B stock. We add an additional year of warranty and provide a substantial discount.

If we ship something and it's faulty, then subsequently we take it back and replace it, it goes through a very strenuous testing and QC before approved to resell.

You should be okay.

All Electronics that get returned to Wal-Mart go straight back to the manufacturer. Lots of time nothing is wrong with them. Could be wedding gift returns or whatever.

I've never had a problem with refurbs but I've never purchased one without at least a full 30 day warranty.
