Not quite sure what's going on at Omi, but my last two visits have been disappointing. I bought some $25 off vouchers last week via WAFB and decided to go today to use one for lunch. They had some unfamiliar faces working in there today, which made me ponder whether or not it was under new ownership (I hope not!) First off, the girl who took our order was about 7 years old -- no, that is not an exaggeration. She had a little pad and a pencil and wrote down what I told her while her mother (?) looked over her shoulder. The food just wasn't good -- the fried honey chicken was very poor-quality chicken and mostly batter, similar to what you'd find under a heat lamp at a 2nd rate Chinese buffet. The other dishes we had weren't much better. I don't know if there's a new chef or new owners or what exactly the problem is, but it certainly was a disappointment.

That's disconcerting...

I haven't been in a month or so, and never for lunch. I'll have to order something soon.

I haven't been in a while, but that's disappointing to hear.

Very disappointing. Only had one bad meal there. Hope it's not a trend.

The honey chicken at omi sucks.

It's the only thing I've gotten that I didn't like and that was roughly 6-7 months ago.

I grabbed take out tonight. Hot and sour soup was as amazing as always. Wife loved the egg drop soup. I got ants climbing trees for the first time and really enjoyed it. Wife chose the Kung pao shrimp and outside of the shrimp being slightly overcooked, probably due to it sitting around while we ate soup and the drive home, I thought it was tasty. Not the best I've had there, as I typically get the garlic eggplant, but I didn't think it slipped any.

We just left there and had a great dinner. This was my first time so I have nothing to compare it to though. We had garlic pork, ching qing chicken, egg drop, and a special salad. All were very good, the chicken was a little hotter than I expected.

Went for lunch earlier this week and things were still spot on (had the cumin pork). There were some new faces in the front of the house but I did see the same older guy come out of the kitchen.

Good to hear that maybe it was an off lunch meal and not a new trend.
Love this place

They are under new ownership but the chef is still the same person. Service sucks but food is still good.

I too bought some of those WAFB vouchers and recently had the Kung Pao Chicken, Garlic Eggplant, and Cumin Pork, all were still spot-on solid per usual..

However, what they call Moo Shu Pork is a joke, even if authentic? I had forgotten it being mentioned as such in previous threads here..a big mistake! Just pounded flat pork with rubbery mushroom, and lots of scrambled eggs..no crepes. hoisin, nor shredded cabbage,etc..

I too saw a new face at the counter, and wondered if all is the same in the kitchen and/or owner/management? Now see in this thread there has been some change. Will still be a loyalist if the chef stays.

They seem to be grinding along, hopefully all is well.

Are there 2 cumin pork dishes? It is one of my go-to, but when we ate there 2 weekends ago, it was different. I noticed the new menu (with descriptions) and a few different faces in the front of the house. I suspect they just brought me the wrong dish. It was pork, and it was cumin, but totally different than the norm.
