Need Help for 1st Auction draft

I've been playing FF since Barry Sanders was ballin, but never an auction league.
Any tips or advice would be appreciated. I don't necessarily need help scouting players or assigning value, just the process. Who to nominate, when to nominate sleepers, what do I do when a run occurs on a position, etc.
TIA

Since it's your first one, I suggest doing a mock auction draft first.

Planing on some mocks this week. Sucks that the draft is next Saturday, so I'm drafting way earlier than I prefer.

is this the 1st auction draft for some of the other players in your league too?

Yes. 1st time for about 5 owners. Only 2nd year in this league. Came in 2nd last year due to Charles and Forte.
I tried to budget my team from last year and was about 25% over our cap this year. Not sure if that's the best way to set a price point, but it makes sense to me.
Biggest question is if I should nominate my sleepers/value guys or let someone else to it and grab them?

i don't know if you would want to nominate all of your sleeper players/value guys.
its all about timing i guess.
last year a guy in our league nominated Andrew Luck before any other QB and got a steal because no one really chased him.
they were waiting to take their shots at the tried and true QBs like Peyton, Rodgers, Brees.
i think you'll see that other players will nominate some sleepers that you like.
its tough to know if they like the player they nominate anyway. They might think the guy will be a total bust and hope some players end up bidding kind of high for him.

biggest mistake i made the first time i did an auction was have money left over. Played it to conservative.
but the next year i went and grabbed a stud at every position with my first few picks instead of waiting around a little too long and just gunning for depth/value.

Find guys you value for $10 or less and nominate them early. People are going to nominate the big names early and spend $60 or more on their first player. In years past I've gotten aj green, Andrew luck, Steve smith, gronkowski, welker in this fashion for around $6 or less. It gives you the satisfaction of filling a role and the idea that you can still splurge on a target or two.
From my experience this is average:
Top rbs $60 range
Top receivers upper $30s
Top qbs mid $30s
You will probably have to splurge on 1 elite rb. Outside of that, there are a ton of $20 value receivers that are solid. You can get a good qb $25. Play around with the mocks, but the real thing people will use their money faster for top targets.

In the early rounds I like to put out guys that will drive a big price that I'm not interested in..

I agree with that strategy as well.
