5 things from the scrimmage today

1. It's been beat in the ground already but let me reiterate how good Cooks looked. Routes look clean and his quickness is top notch. Breakaway speed is also another gear above the rest out there. I'll be conservative and predict 9 TD's total: 6 rec TD, 2 rush TD, 2 KR/PR TD.
2. Vaccaro is a head hunter at the safety position. He popped Khiry pretty good in run support and pulled up on another hit that would've been highlight reel material in the regular season. He also smoked Jimmy on the sideline right in front of the crowd drawing Jimmy's ire and brief shoving match ensued. Good to see the competitiveness out there.
3. Oline was pretty impressive. McCown seemed to have tons of time to throw and the RBs were routinely getting to the second level. You could see the D line showing frustration as well. The O definitely won today.
4. Graham seemed like a great guy. Stayed for at least an hour after practice signing anything and everything put in front of him. Even posed for pictures with a few fans. The $44 million dollar man seems to be intact on paying back the fans. I'm confident it will translate on the field as well.
5. The Greenbrier put together a good product in a relatively short period of time. The shuttle sucked but the waits were reasonable for the number of fans there. Speaking of, I live here in WV and never expected a few thousand other fans to show up. But show up they did - met some from NC, SC, and even France. I think with a year of lead time the experience next year will be even better. I'll let you know, I booked rooms for the same weekend next year at The Greenbrier.

So what were the bad things?
Posted on 8/2/14 at 4:39 pm to Hoodoo Man
The fact it didn't last longer and that Brees didn't play.
I was just highlighting the positive things I saw. The negatives were definitely the lack of D line penetration on pass plays. If that translates to the reg season opposing QBs will eat is alive. I'm hoping it's more a testament to the O line than bad play by the D line.
Only one takeaway by the D.
#18 WR Hawkins dropped a few balls that hit him dead in the hands. He's making his long shot appear longer.
Was hoping to see a bit more of Andy Tanner but I don't think he was ever even looked at. Same for Morgan.
Ingram had a few of his typical 2 yards and cloud of dust while Robinson looked good.
Overall I thought the team looked good. Obviously more offense than defense with the vanilla play but it kept the crowd happy. Defense needs to shore up some, especially in regards to staying disciplined and not over pursuing.

I don't need much room. Love floral patterns and I pick up and always have the finest bourbon around.
We'll talk.

In the cabinet right now...Bookers, Makers Mark, Woodford and JB Black.
So many good ones. The fun part for me is finding them.

3. Oline was pretty impressive.
Hallelujah.
Scrimmages are a little misleading with the vanilla play, like you said. I'm sure the defense will be fine come live action.
I love the fact that KV32 is sticking his nose in tackles. If you look around the league and even in the history books, you really do notice that his playing style usually translates to greatness. Really excited about this kid. He's exciting to watch.
Also, I'm going to go ahead and assume that Byrd didn't play, mostly because that's what I expect, but the defense will have a whole new look to it once Byrd is over the top. Our DB's will be able to take more chances knowing there's someone they can trust behind them to help them out. Jenkins wasn't that guy, and anyone who knows posting history can tell you that it hurts for me to say that lol I wanted the best out of Malcolm.
No d-line penetration is concerning to me. I understand that our o-line looked impressive and might be one of the best in the league this year, but I've seen that 2013 d-Line really dominate good offensive fronts last year. I guess we'll see Friday where they stand.
Few questions for ya:
Who was getting most of the reps on the D-Line?
What were the type of routes Cooks was running (ie: short hitch, comeback, ins, outs; mid post, corner, dig; deep fly, 9, flag, post)?
Screens had to be ran, who was the main receiver on those?
Thanks for sharing, pleading the fifth

Woodford is always nice.
I once had a Jefferson Reserve that blew my socks off.

Yes sir!
Anytime 4th.
And Jefferson is great. Just had my 1st bottle a couple of months ago.
Would suggest the Bourbon trail in Kentuckey to anyone if they have the chance.
PS
Just let the ice melt awhile. I always let it sit a bit. And use only spring water for your ice too.

Hey... This guy here knows his stuff. Might have to make it my drink of choice for the games this year.

I sat down with a friend and smoked a few cigars last night with a bottle of Bookers. I got pretty fricked up.
This morning I noticed it is 128 proof. LOL, I never knew that before. 64% alcohol...... NICE
