Cleaning/Restoring rusty tools?

I ran across my great-grandpas old tool box, and he has some nice tools that I can use. Good brands, snap-on, rigid, klein, old craftsman, channelock.
Some of the channelocks and rigid tools are rusted pretty hard.
Anyone recommend a good way to restore them or clean them back to a good cosmetic condition?
anyone ever used that CLR stuff before?

CLR won't do a thing on that...
I agree that you should probably try naval jelly...
if that doesn't do it, I would just use a grinder and wire wheel to mechanically take the rust off...

Evapo-rust is some of the best stuff I've used. The only thing better is bead blaster.

Take it to get blasted. Can do the same with old cookware, etc.

I also came across an old pair of benders. I really want to get these cleaned and re-greased.

if your stuff is no more rusted than the benders in the pic, I would just use a little penatrating oil and maybe some steel wool...
fwiw, most of your tools are probably plated to prevent rust, so don't remove any more of that than necessary...
also, keep an oily shop rag in your toolbox to wipe things down with periodically...
