Every time I come back to LA to visit I'm always amazed at just how many people there smoke.

My aunt died of lung cancer in LA 8 years ago(lifelong smoker). You would think seeing your wife and sister die such a death would make you think twice about lighting up.

Nope...my aunts and uncle(her husband) still smoke.

SFP, your usually good at starting threads that make me think before responding. This one has a "water is wet" feel to it.

The only Asians I really see smoking consistently are Koreans. Geez, they love those cigs....

And yet the States want to tax-out the one "make me feel good for a minute in my shitty life" thing that poor people can buy.

Why don't we put sin taxes on caviar and foie gras and nose jobs and white pants and prescription drugs and sailing.

i make a lot of threads about BDMs, and yes, they are mostly "water is wet"

...not that libprogs agree with me (see: the black parents/education thread and that OP)

this is more of hitting the nail with a big fricking hammer over and over and over again

the problem is BDMs

the problem is BDMS

the problem is BDMs

until we all agree, we can't fix the problems the BDMS create in society

And why not? All the health issues associated with smoking will cost the taxpayers a good bit of money.

LOL. I think the more appropriate answer is "less educated people with less money" and those people are not restricted to a single political party or race.

I live in the great GOP enclave of St. Bernard Parish and I am convinced we have one of the highest rates of smoking population in the entire country. Also most people here are less educated and have less money, so there you go. (and I think if they would quit smoking, they would not be so poor)

When we lived in Katy, I don't think I knew a single person who lived out there who smoked.

But just to show that there are always exceptions, I work with a girl who is very attractive and educated and makes decent money, and she smokes. She quit while she was pregnant, and I was hoping it would stick, but I saw her ligthing up the other day outside the office.

Glad to hear that SFP

But if it wasn't that difficult, what took you so long to finally quit? Just curious, I doubt you went from a BDM to a GDM overnight, or was there something at play?
