Let's hear you playing "Killing in the Name" on that thing.

ALMOST bought a Seagull.

The one I picked had a cedar top. My "guitar buddy" said "cedar top?" So I passed.

There is a Sonic commercial where the dude is holding and playing a Seagull.

Thanks everyone! I love it so far.

I looked into the seagull brand because I heard they make quality instruments for the price, and I wasn't too worried about getting a big brand name Taylor, Martin, etc.

I'll have to look for that

How serious of a player are you? I'm guessing you're not very serious if you got a seagull and you weren't interested in a Taylor or Martin.

Regardless, congrats on the guitar!

That's harsh. Not everybody can or wants to pay top dollar for a guitar. Seagull, Washburn and Blueridge all make pretty nice sounding and easy playing guitars for less than the big guys.

Yeah. I hate when posters come on here and knock someone for getting a less-than-top shelf instrument... as if that's going to automatically make someone a better musician.

I've got a Seagull Coastline 12-string ae and, as the OP wrote, the quality/price equation is excellent with this brand of guitar. I paid around $800 for mine (without tax or shipping), and it came with a Grodin electronics system and a hard shell case. I love playing the thing, also the distinctive headstock! One thing to remember: Seagulls come with a loose nut (at least mine did), to make it easy to replace when the time comes.

Congrats on your new guitar!

Thanks everyone. I'm going to enjoy playing it for a long time.

And King of New Orleans doesn't deserve a response

LOL

Craigslist is chok full of people who were too "serious" selling their first guitar.

Seagulls are Canadian made and they Taylors and Martins that are under $1000 are Mexican or Chinese? Correct?

Seagull has not outsourced right?

I've got a Takamine with a cedar top and I love it. The wood wears really easily though.

Wow, jimmies were rustled. I wasn't bashing the OP in any way. I was honestly asking how serious of a player he was.

There are high end Seagulls and Larivees that I would much rather than a Martin. I personally don't care for the tone. I have a couple of Taylors and still prefer my pre-Fender Tacoma. All about personal preference really.
