Directv and sec network...who do I speak to?

Yesterday I called to speak with Directv about not having the sec network stuff squared away. I keep hearing stories about people getting Sunday ticket for free and money off their bill and am wondering who you had to speak to to get this to happen?

When I called, they were pretty straightforward and just said that if I wanted to make the jump to another service they would send me to their billing service. There wasn't much fight to keep the customer. Which is fine, but I would love to get the most bang for my buck if I can make it happen.

IMO no one should be calling until the network launched and DTV doesn't have it.

This has been my experience in the past as well.

"Ok, you want to cancel service, let me transfer you."

"Thanks for being a customer, sorry to see you go."

How much do you have left on your contract? I only have 4 months left. I got the NFL Ticket free for a year, HBO free for 6 months, and $20 off my bill per month.

Call and tell customer service you want to cancel they'll transfer you to retentions so you can cancel and then retentions will offer you discounts or programming to keep you.

Call say cancel services. Get retention dept.
Ask if you are under contract or when your contract is up.
Say you really like having Directv but no SEC network is a deal breaker and you want to explore your options so you can have SEC network on the first day of programming.
Let the negotiations begin.
When DTV says were going to be signing a deal with the SEC Network any day now.
Come back with that's what yall said about the weather channel for months while it was off the air.

I called and asked when my contract was up. They sent me to retention. I didn't even say I was leaving and was given $25 off for 12 months and Sunday nfl ticket for free.

My contract has long been expired. I am not making a jump to get into another contract with Dish until the network launches and Directv doesn't have it.

-free sunday ticket
-free espn gameplan "but if get secnetwork before week 1 then theyl cancel this"
-bill dropped to $35 a month (2 days later i referred a friend and now bill is $25 month)
-free hd boxes for every room

I called and just said "I want to cancel". They get you to someone that can do stuff right away. Don't just talk to a customer service rep, they can't give you much. Say stuff like "are their any discounts you can give me" or stuff like that. If you're out of contract, you've got the leverage.

I called and they immediately offered some bs discount. Always ask for more. Never take just $5 a month off. Always ask for more. I usually stop after two or three requests because im satisfied with their offer or free channels or discounts or whatever. NEVER ACCEPT THE FIRST OFFER.

And bs with them in between negotiations (talk about random stuff).

This. They routed me to the VIP something dept. Gave me $30 off a month for 12 months, half off sunday nfl ticket, a technician came the next day with a new receiver and ran a line to my covered patio for free.

And another thing. If you don't get anywhere with the first person, don't take their offer, hang up, and call back. Keep doing this til you get what you want. Might cost you an hour but you'll get more.

Sounds like the same situation I had when I called a few weeks ago. Called saying I was gonna cancel (finished 1 out of 2 years on contract), lady asked why, I said no NFL sunday ticket, price increasing by $35 a month, no SEC network, and our genie kept cutting the sound out every 30 min to an hour.

The lady said "oh we can get you sunday ticket for half off", I said that's not good enough, so she went through in the cancellation without budging. Got a call the next morning from the retention department with a $50 credit, $25 off the rest of the contract (a year), and a technician to come out and replace all the HD wires in my house for free.

My advice is to go through with the cancellation and you'll get a call back the next day. That's when you get your chance to do the bargaining

Question...

The guys that are getting free sunday ticket, $20 off per month, etc.....are you actually renewing / extending your contract by accepting these offers / discounts?
