It must have been cheap to make. I can't see any other reason it's going beyond its original run.
Maybe they're just giving it another season because they still feel about what they did to Scrubs.

Maybe it got better. The first season of Parks and Rec is pretty awful. I watched an episode and a half of the show and it was just the worst.

It didn't. It was sort of a guilty pleasure for me. I knew it was terrible, but I think Ron Funches is funny and I like looking at Bianca Kajlich and Eva Amurri. So I kept watching.
There wasn't really any improvement in the product.

I watched a few episodes. This show is pretty awful. The writing isn't sharp like other Lawrence comedies. It's definitely phoned in. Absolutely zero of the characters are likable and it's almost as if you are left wondering how these characters can actually function. It settles for cheap one liners, and when you do that they have to be funny, but they aren't.
NBC is definitely using those summer numbers to actually fool themselves into thinking this show can work. It can't.
