Fine dining, if your alone the bar in the back of city grocery cant be beat.
Same style of food but a bit more casual and less expensive - Boure
Eli's favorite place, fairly heavy southern food but with an awesome twist and really cool vibe, prob the local favorite - Ajax

Bar
Proud Larrys for adult, yet cool and loud
library sports bar for GREATEST SPORTS BAR EVAR
Library for, well, if you have a job you shouldnt be in there

Yep...all this...

Mix in a trip to the Burgundy Room balcony for drinks and you're all set...

Taylor's grocery for a fire arse steak. It's a little outside town.

Also City Grocery has got some nice food on the square.

Taylor is for catfish, generally. Oxford Grillehouse on the square has a good steak, as does mcewans, Lenora's, and city grocery. Snack bar is just off square and has seafood and steaks. If you are good with being slightly off the square,, go to snack bar. Have some drinks on balcony above city grocery.

I travel to Oxford a few times a year (the SO is from there) and I pretty much always make it a point to make it over to Ajax. Great soul food (really can't go wrong with most anything on the menu), nice digs, and the mac and cheese is to die for. Boure is another I'd recommend. I like going up to the bar on the balcony and having a few drinks while people watching on the Square. Their roasted jalapeno and grilled peach chutney dip app is probably one of my favorite things I've had in Oxford outside of Old Venice's Crawfish Rolls.

I believe you are thinking of Phillip's Grocery. A little wooden house looking place?
