Looks like Lynch actually won his holdout

Profootballtalk reports Marshawn Lynch has agreed to a $1.5 million raise for 2014. Lynch won his holdout, after all. His salary will increase from $5 million to $6 million, while he's getting a $500,000 "signing bonus." He's now up to $6.5 million guaranteed for 2014. In addition, the Seahawks will not collect Lynch's $495,000 in fines. The Seahawks freed up $1 million by guaranteeing Lynch's per-game roster bonuses. The signing bonus money is coming out of his 2015 salary. It's a nice increase, but also perhaps a nod to the fact that Lynch won't be back at his scheduled $5.5 million salary next year. The fact that Seattle was willing to give Beast Mode a $1.5 million raise to end a seven-day holdout is a fairly strong indication that his workload won't be scaled back much this season.

So they just gave him some of his money early, and guaranteed money he already could have made

Yeah but he's probably getting cut before next season so it's money he may have never made from what I understand

Not much of a win, assuming he wanted something long term. Anyone know why he was holding out? I haven't been following closely.

He's 28, so I wonder if the Seahawks expect a significant drop off soon. I'm guessing they plan on using as much tread as they can this year then cutting him. I wonder how much he would get on the market if he has a good, injury free year.

Well he's 29 years old I believe. He's not a long term deal anywhere.
Since he had literally no leverage and had racked up 500,000 in fines, and the Seahawks has almost zero incentive to give him anything, I'd say it's a big win for him
I think he knows it's probably his last year in town and he wanted to get more money this season and a week off of camp.

His salary jumps up a good bit next year I believe and it's nonguarenteed so I think hell deffinitly be on the open market next year given how much they like Christine Micheal, Turbin, and Ware.
And the running back market is bone dry. That's why the holdout was so laughable. He's already making top 5 running back money in the worst market position in the league.
Even with a big season I don't think he'd break the bank in free agency

Yeah he'll almost surely be gone after this season. If he were a few years younger I think he'd actually do well cause he has shown he can take a big workload, but I think his age will scare some teams off.

Yeah paying big money for a 29 year old running back is like paying for a 42 year old WR

Yup, I wonder if he would take less money and play for a competing team or if he would go to the Raiders when they offer him a couple mil too much.
I'm betting on the latter

That strategy didn't work out to well for MJD or DMC

It sucks how quick RBs are in and out of the league.
Guys just get good and then bam all of a sudden they are at the end of their careers

If I'm a big time High School/college athlete, I try to stay as far away from running back as I can if I can.

If I was LF I would play LB for LSU but its his career and better for the Tigers!

He's a bruiser. His body won't hold up much longer. 2-3 years tops.

What was he fined a half million dollars for?

Each day you miss camp you rack up a daily fine since he's under contract.
