"Have a blessed day" or "I am blessed"

Spinoff from Gastons hotel thread.
I find it more and more common that people are telling me this, even in business conversations.
It is almost always females, sometimes black guys. It annoys the hell out of me, I am a religious person so there is no issue with that part, am I the only one?
I just greeted a middle aged woman, I said "how are you?" she said "I am blessed" I didn't know how to respond and just said "well, that's good!"

It's always black guys in my experience. We have two at my office that say it.

My dad's old buddy, who we always went fishing with, use to say "I'm being blessed" when he had to take a crap.
Every time I hear it I think of him. Good fishing camp memories.

I am an atheist and while it annoys me as it pushed their religious agenda. I really like the concept of recognizing that you are where you are b.c of things that aren't you. Your decisions make a very small part of what makes you, you. Its mostly genetics and who you were born to (and where).

I can't believe people in this day and age think they are "blessed". Unfortunately people think because they are fortunate and lucky to have been born in this country that they in general ignore the fact that the vast majority of people on this planet suffer daily. Saying you are blessed is insulting.

Just say "thanks."
I'm an atheist and my next door neighbors (old retired couple) tell me "God bless you" all the time after we talk. I just say thank you, and say "same to you." Or something to that affect.

I had this big fat black lady at the grocery store tell me to have a blessed day one time and I thought she said I was dressed gay so I hit her in the face with a cantaloupe. People all gathered round her big sprawled out rotund arse saying like WFT happened sweetie are you ok and I was like sweetie? Don't you mean sweaty? Look her big fat Nell Carter arse. And they were like what did you do to her you monster. And I was like shite I didn't do anything I guess she got a case of melonoma. And they all started getting all up in arms and shite so I snatched up my groceries and left.
