Happened to Scruffy once in high school with his first car, a '73 Jeep. The gas gauge didn't work and it died right outside school.
Scruffy made his younger sister get out an push.

I ran my car out of gas in college all the time. Was broke and didnt drive much so I would only put 10 bucks in the tank at a time. Would try and push it as far as I could. Learned to carry a gas can in my car at all times.

My kids are too young (5 & 9) to run the car out of gas, but i was in a hurry one day to pick my 5yr old up when he was in preschool and failed to stop once my light came on. 5 miles down the road from his school my truck shut off. The next 3 months he had to be talked into riding in daddy's truck because he was scared he would have to walk again. LOL

Yes,told him what my dad told me.
Rang him up pretty good for running out, gave him $20 EMERGENCY money to put back for EMERGENCIES and told him not to ever call me again for running out of gas, he hasn't, thats been 7 years ago. He probably spent it the next day on Taco Hell.
Then blew the other two out as a warning, neither were even able to drive yet. But neither one of them has ran out of gas.

Just last week my 17 year old son's truck was parked on the street. I asked what happened, said he turned into the neighborhood and it stuttered and "locked up" so he coasted to the house and parked it. Found it he had been driving with the fuel light on, for two days.......
2003 GMC Sierra Z71......
Then used the lawnmower gas so he could get to the gas station,

That would almost get me a full tank when I was in college.

10 bucks would fill her up back then. Every family has had such out-of-gas episodes.

I did this once in high school (turned out my gas gage was faulty so not really my fault). I ran out of gas about a mile and a half from school. I had been planning on filling the truck up at the gas station across the street from school after classes were over.

Ran out of gas on the way to the gas station before school freshman year of college. My dad brought me some gas and didn't really mention it again.
I haven't learned my lesson apparently, as I drive with my gas light on all the time. I'm pretty sure I can drive close to a hundred miles after my light turns on.
ETA: I have a 18.6 gal tank and I've never had to put more than 16.5 gals in it. My gas light is a damn liar.

Going to Shreveport once My dumbass friend didn't stop for gas in Natchitoches like we told him so we were on the side of the road for about 3 hours waiting on AAA. Finally just paid some tow truck driver $100 to bring us a couple of gallons. It was early September had no water just half a watermelon that we had to eat with a bootlegged bone thugs CD.

I knew a girl that ran out of gas "all the time." She was shocked to hear it never happened to me, as if it was something that all drivers have to deal with.
