Jesse Ventura wins $1.8 million lawsuit

Ventura has been vindicated ,by a jury of his peers, about his defamation claims from deceased SEAL Chris Kyle.
Ventura awarded $1.8 million dollars & the fictitious passage referring to him will be removed from future prints of the "American Sniper" book.
Good for Jesse winning against this pathological liar who also 'shadily' claimed to kill 2 carjackers near a Dallas gas station that no one(including law enforcement) has really verified nor heard of.
Jesse says it's not over & he 'will be visiting' the publisher of this book.

Klye said a man (who he later identified as Ventura) said that the Nave Seals "Deserved to lose a few." Kyle also claims he punched Ventura (again, not specifically named in the book.)
He later said on Opie and Anthony that the man was Ventura. It seems Ventura demanded that the publisher remove the passage from the book and they refused. At the end of the day it is some slanderous shite (or libelous, I confuse the two). And while it seems what Ventura did was in poor taste, he had every right to be upset if the claim was not true.

The fact that Jesse won an $1.8 million dollar lawsuit thought to have a near insurmountable hurdle to prove. Story was complete bs & Ventura has always said he never remembered meeting Kyle(meets thousands of fans) & certainly would remember being punched out by a man 30 years his junior(Kyle thought it was cool to boast about punching out a 63 year old man & profiting from the lie).
No law enforcement , local news nor family/friends of the supposed carjackers Kyle supposedly gunned down in 2009 have come forward to verify his claim.

Can someone explain to me exactly what he did "wrong" to lose the suit? Was it that he put words in Ventura's mouth and caused damage to his reputation? Do you think this would have gone anywhere if he hadn't gone around after the book announcing that it was Ventura? Was there enough information in the book that made it obvious, even to the people that were there, that it was Ventura he was referring to?
