Would Tombstone have been better without Dana Delaney?
Posted by DanTiger on 7/30/14 at 8:34 pm10
I understand movies need alive interest but I find myself sickened when she comes on screen in tombstone. The dialogue between doc and the rest of the characters as well as the action is awesome making it a huge letdown each time she is in a scene. Am I th only perso. That feels this way?

I actually prefer the women in Costner's Wyatt Earp, especially from an acting standpoint, over the women in Tombstone.

Dana Delaney makes everything better.

I like Dana Delaney as much as the next guy, but I was also just watching tombstone, and thought the same thing.
She's completely useless in this film.
ETA: and no, movies don't need a love interest

I know Tombstone is the gospel around here but Wyatt Earp has its better parts as well.
Wyatt Earp's Josephine is 10 times better than Delaney.
Also "You all can kiss my rebel dick." is the best quote from either movie. Including the Val Kilmer quotes.
Well the " Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him" is awesome.

No. It's not.
I actually agree with the OP. The scene that sealed the deal for me was right after Morgan got shot and Wyatt is screaming in the street in the rain. She runs up to him, he yells at her, and she scurries away like a moron.

If you're going to argue the value of Tombstone as a complete movie you are going to fail (Delany or no Delany).
Tombstone is an assortment of some of the greatest scenes and lines in cowboy movie history. Enjoy it as such, not as some epic Western.

I love Tombstone, but she is annoying as hell. Not her part, but her the actress. Replace her with a better actress and you have a truly perfect movie, instead of an almost perfect movie.
