Antonio Blakeney 247
2013 Summer highlights
Summer 2014 Highlights
Thought this deserved it's own thread...
Antonio Blakeney is a 6'4" SG that is rated as the #3 SG and #16 overall in the 2015 class. He recently listed his top 7 schools as Florida State, Louisville, Missouri, Kentucky, Oregon, USC, and LSU.
Up till recently Louisville has been thought to lead. Both Rick Pitino and Johnny Jones have been at a ton of his games recently. He plays AAU ball with Ben Simmons and recently made comments that he plays well with Simmons and it would be great to play further with him.
In the last 24 hours, three crystal ball predictions have been put in, all three to LSU. One of which was 247's Director of Basketball Scouting, Jerry Meyer.
Still a lot of work to do by the coaching staff, but LSU could be able to land at least 2 Five star recruits in this cycle and still are in contention for a few more.
The future is BRIGHT!

Another possible reason people are starting to predict Blakeney LSU's way is UL's interest in Donovan Mitchell. He is another SG/Combo that has really impressed Pitino and they may not have enough room for both of them in the class.
LSU still has to look out for UK who already has 1 solid SG commit, but it's always tough to fend off Coach Cal.

Shut the front door. I'm getting courtside seats

LSU absolutely needs a SG in the 2015 class. Is Blakeney OR Samson or Blakeney AND Samson?
CJJ is pushing all the right buttons on the recruiting trail. It's time for some production on the court.

You just said its time for production on the court, but our best talent isn't coming this year.

Meh. Lost job and hickey.
I'll be there either way

hickey...meh
job will hurt but the 2 freshman won't be freshman anymore. plus, finally adding a wing scorer will help.

You've got 2 Soph. who are rated in the top 30 players in CBB, plus the leading JUCO scorer from last year, and a Jr. SG who has proven himself to be a good player (albeit at the mid-major level). I'm not saying he must win the SEC this year, but it's time for better than .500 in this relatively pathetic league

Gray and Hornsby > Hickey and JOB
At least for our scheme. Forcing the ball into JOB slowed us down on offense too often.
He shot 75% and scored 26 points against #7 Ohio State.
He shot 57% and scored 23 points against #16 NC State.
Those were his only two games against ranked foes his sophomore year and I think he did okay...

yeah, i think making the tourney this year will be acceptable with a 2nd round exit being a good season
