I think that whole marina is going up for auction soon. Makes sense to bail right now

True to an extent. He had some issues with his landlord. That being said, it's tough to make money selling live shrimp, and anyone that's been around the industry knows that. Matrix/Vortex/Goldeneye will still be produced and it's possible that Dockside may come back in another location. Not going to get into the ins and outs of the closing on here, but I will say that closing Dockside was not entirely a voluntary decision, and I'll leave this link here: LINK

Can't say I blame him.

The Matrix are flying off the shelves this year.

I have a family member that is opening a landing at Chef Pass. He does sell live bait.

For $0.40 a pop? How are those launch owners not making bank off that?

They don't buy them for much less and they're a royal pain to mess with

As the lake continues to decline, this will be a good location imo.

Not after the new Miss. River diversion projects come on-line because Lake Borgne will be almost as fresh as Lake Pontchatrain. I would open a marina & bait store in Bay St. Louis or Venice long term because Shell Beach, Hopedale, Chef, Rigolets will turn from brackish salt water to fresh water most of the year except in the fall when the river level are low once the freshwater divisions are put in place.

Most marinas sell for .35 (except the Rigolets, but that may have changed recently). Profits from selling shrimp barely cover the costs, and by barely I mean some months you end up in the red.

wish him the best. He didn't know me from Adam and was always helpful the few times I fished w/ family around the Lake area

you do realize they will only be open for roughly a month a year, and not even every year, more like one in three years...so, i think the marinas in the areas you mentioned will be just fine.
