What Laptop Do I Want?

I currently have a 17" Dell running Windows 7 which is probably about 5 or 6 years old. I hardly ever use it b/c it's big and heavy and really starting to slow down.I use my phone (nexus 5) 95% of the time for web surfing, emails etc. I'd like to get a new laptop.
I want 14"-15" screen. Fairly light.
I would like it to stream media and to take with me when traveling to watch movies stored on the HD.
Would like I5 processor speed or comparable.
I would like a metal case and backlit keyboard.
Basically I don't need the power of an ultrabook but want something more than a chromebook.
Any recommendations preferably under $800? Also I do not want an Apple.

I would look into a tablet laptop hybrid like the Lenovo Yoga LINK / The main thing it's missing from your list is metal, and you have to get the slightly more expensive Pro version to get the backlit keyboard.

Depends on how tight you stick to an above 13" display

Toshiba Satin Gold 15.6" Satellite S55-B5268 Laptop PC with Intel Core i7-4510U Processor, 12GB Memory, 1TB Hard Drive and Windows 8.1
I just picked this up for my wife's school and my slight gaming needs until my desktop arrives.
It seems to meet what you were looking for. Slightly above your price specified.
Metal finish, very light, backlit keyboard.
Good for gaming, 12 gb ram, Radeon Video Card.

That looks about right. How hard is it to uninstall windows 8 and install windows 7?
BTW, is there an eta on windows 9 yet? Hear it shouldn't suck since that is windows' 8 job.

That I don't know, shouldn't be tough though.
I don't like 8.1 either, but don't care enough to change it.
We are happy with the laptop thus far though, super light as well I was kinda shocked as my last gaming laptop was massive
