Byrd’s back surgery created space in his spinal cord to alleviate possible bruising due to contact, per @RapSheet https://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000370909/article/jairus-byrd-back-off-pup-list-at-saints-walkthrough?campaign=Twitter_atl …

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Byrd had surgery in LA by Dr. Robert Watkins to create space in his spinal cord and alleviate possible bruising that can come with contact. Byrd's last visit was in July when he received his pre-training camp update. The safety is ahead of schedule with his rehab from the surgery, which was elective and precautionary. He'll take his time getting back as he does more football activity, but the Saints like where he is currently.

Of course we pick up the guy with back issues for a hefty price tag. Give me Bush and Vaccaro and I would have been plenty happy.

not sure how creating space in your spinal cord can be a minor surgery

How in the hell could the Saints sign a QB coming off shoulder surgery, TO HIS THROWING ARM?!?!?

I think they should sign the QB with the knee problem instead. Either that or draft the guy out of USC or Texas.

We've had a lot of alter activity lately.

Chicken, I'm still available to be the Saints Talk admin. My price is negotiable.

It's alters, but also people dropping in now like they've won multiple super bowls and drafted home runs every pick now.

I've had clients who have had similar procedures. Pretty minor in the world of back surgeries.

Back injurys tend to reoccur. Byrd has had constant nagging injuries throughtout his career idiot.

yet he's still one of if not the most productive safety in the league

imagine if he is 100 percent healthy for the Saints what he can do....

He'll be fine. Payton said himself they could have probably gone through the season with it, but they didn't really want to. Elected to get it done and taken care of now instead of letting it linger.
Seems to me the only thing he'll "miss" is just having to take it slow through camp and preseason. Even then he's still out there taking part in drills.

We didn't pay that much to imagine... we paid that much to be guaranteed that pro bowl safety.
