Alligator snapping turtles have triangle head and red lure on its tongue. The lure is the sure fire way to tell. Ive seen mixes and some call the mixes sawback or razor back snapping turtles

That would be my guess. Not a plain snapping turtle for sure. Maybe a cross, but I would bet alligator. Little guy.

I let one go the size of a quarter. I have some eggs I buried that I am waiting on but you can buy them o nline. Google it.

No doubt the one pictured in this thread is an aligator. 3 rows on back is sure tell.

You can relocate them to 5 gallon bucket with dirt at same depth they are buried. With reptiles, you have to keep air bubble in the same location. So you would have to mark the top of the egg before removing from original nest and place the top in same orientation. They'll hatch just fine at room temp or outside and you won't lose any of them to predators or them getting away.

I used to raise these things for people that wanted them for soup.
