In 2003, the Nets sold Kyle Korver for cash to the 76ers for a very good reason

They needed a new copy machine.

The then-New Jersey Nets picked Kyle Korver with the 51st overall selection in the 2003 NBA Draft and sold his draft rights to the Philadelphia 76ers for $125,000.

The cash covered the Nets' Summer League bill and they spent the leftover money on a new copy machine.

Korver developed into one of the NBA's most valued swingmen.

He's on the USA training roster, so probably just filling space.

That reminds me of Kerry Ligtenberg getting traded for balls and bats.

On a team like Atlanta he's still pretty valuable, but if you put him on a contender he swings titles. Look how badly the heat missed Mike Miller, and Korver is a level above Miller. Size, decent defense, and elite off the ball movement and three point shooting, aside from superstars and rim protectors that's the most valued commodity in the nba right now

This is similar to a MLB prospect that was traded for some bats. One team got a pitcher, the others got like 20 bats.

he actually died 6 months after the trade. accidental overdoes (suicide most likely)

You either don't watch him play or don't know basketball. Is he a lockdown 1 v 1 defender? No. But he's a very good team defender, he knows when to rotate, when to switch on pick and rolls, has good close outs on shooters.

Just google kyle Korver defense and you'll find several Atlanta and national basketball writers mention how underrated his D is and that casual or uninformed fans still think it's a weakness

Yeah, he just has an understanding of the game to go along with his non-stop motor. Plus, he's much quicker than people think

Thought we'd just get all the stereotypes out the way.
