Houston Hotels & Bars for LSU/Wisc

I would stick with the downtown area. There are several nice hotels in downtown. Many are close to the Metro Rail which makes it an easy commute to the stadium and to the bars located in downtown and midtown.

If you enjoy craft beer go to Flying Saucer at corner of Main and Capitol. There are 3 or 4 more bars within a block or so of FS. Cab or take Uber to Midtown on Friday night and it'll be packed with people per normal but probably lots of Tigers too. Christian's, Front Porch, Dogwood, Drinkery, Doghouse, Celtic Garden, Little Woodrows....all good options for a Friday night.

Have you been there on a weekend night? Lately there's been plenty of people. Main Street from about Capitol to Preston has almost 2 dozen restaurants and bars. If you're wondering around Bell St and Fannin sure, there isn't anything there. North part of Main has plenty going on. Also there's a handful of places within a couple of blocks of House Blues on the south end of downtown.

That's a dead end of downtown agreed. From Inn At The Ballpark (now Westin)I would head to the other side of 59 into East Downtown. A couple of bars there with a Lucky's and a Little Woodrows. Things are picking up there since the soccer stadium went up. And with apartments being built across the street from Union Station I would expect even more stuff to open in the near future. So you went all the way to the Galleria? I guess you missed all of the bars in Midtown? Galleria has the fine dining no doubt so if you want high end you're going to the right place. Midtown along Bagby and West Grey there are tons of bars and casual places to eat. I like the Galleria area but is too far for me to go out on a regular basis.

I'd say Midtown is a better bet vs. Downtown. You can walk to all of the bars/restaurants and don't have to deal with the light rail. There are more sports bar options, and you can hop around depending on the scene you want.

I live at the corner of Main and Capitol downtown and have for the last four years.

On the weekend, there are lines outside of all the bars on the 300 block of Main. It's been happening, and I highly recommend spending at least one night downtown. Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar is the bomb if you like a good cocktail. Women love OKRA. And there are several others in walking distance that are worth trying.

Midtown will obviously have more women. But it will also be overcrowded and the drinks will suck. It's all about preference.

No offense but you did a poor job of checking out the city. Yes, the area immediately by the Baseball stadium is dead, especially in the off season and Sept of a year with team that won only 50 games. From the Inn at the Ball Park there are a 4 diiferent options much much closer than the freaking Galleria. On the other side of 59 from MMP by BBVA on St Emanuel St are a handful of Bars, Warehouse Live, Lucky's, Lil Woodrows and Mojeauxs. DT the Pavilions is walkable from the Inn and there is the HOB plus a couple of other bars, just across the street the HOB is a great Whisky Bar, Reserve 101.. A short cab ride gets you to Mid Town or Washington, both of which are very busy with all kinds of bars/restaurants to choose from. Downtown is the best option to stay if you looking for good night options.

You would have been much better off going to mid-town or the Heights. Plenty to do in both spots.
