Pretty excited about Simmons, but I hope we can surround him with some other quality players. Have to finish strong in recruiting.

Yea. I think we end up with a couple SGs and McVeigh.

If it ends up Sampson, Simmons, Blakeney, and McVeigh I think that would be the best class since the final 4 crew.

I can only hope. I still remember that Duke game in the tournament, I just kept thinking LSU matched up perfectly to stop Duke.

I was almost able to attend that game.

That season was so awesome. I went to the SEC Tournament that year and had a blast. Will always remember that season.

I'm feeling really good about Lyle after looking at his Twitter and reading interview with Ben Love. He loved his visit, and while he said he doesn't plan on signing in the early period, he does plan on committing soon, which I think bodes well for LSU. I think selling him on playing time and the fact he can play any backcourt position he wants really made an impact on him.

One name to watch is Isaiah Briscoe who is announcing on Thursday on ESPNU at 6pmish... His latest leader has been UK... If they get Briscoe with the possibility of still adding Newman, Blakeney may be off their board.

Been trying to find a spoiler on this since last night, but it's been tight-lipped. Just hoping the recent trends of (a) NYC-area kids leaving and (b) Kentucky getting anyone they want both continue. A Blakeney get would start the dominoes, imo.

I think he's so under the radar, but he is a 5 star prospect... Getting him would be HUGE. He's a perfect fit into our system being a tall guard who can handle the basketball.

He later tweeted that Blakeney said there was no way he signs early. Was hoping a blue thursday would get him to speed up and sign with us.

Just to play devil's advocate, that's from the same kid who was committed to Louisville for 5 minutes. There's a lot that can happen in the course of a week, and the mind of a 17 year old often changes with the wind.

I don't see Blakeney signing early. Which isn't a problem at all. Especially if LSU is able to perform well this year. Still, UK's class has filled up and he may be one of those guys hwo gets left out cause he waited.

Is that the case? I was under the impression that it was the other way around, and KY was slow-playing him while the took their chances with Briscoe and Newman.

Yea, I didn't really mean it as much as Blakeney waiting as much as not getting aboard. If Blakeney would have committed a couple months ago, he would be in. I don't think UK has been begging him lately to commit. I had heard the coaches were going a little soft on him.

hopefully UK finishes up quick so we can put the full court press on Blakeney. I don't know why but I really really like this kid

plus it would add to Jones' recruiting credibility. He's quietly been making strides with guys that fit his system, but not guys that the blue bloods have their eyes on. With Simmons, and hopefully one other piece, we'll be truly competing with the big dogs on the recruiting trail

If we can pull Blakeney, Lyle, and Simmons --- This class be stacked.
