TALLAHASSEE — A federal appeals court has upheld the state's "docs vs. glocks" law, overturning an earlier court ruling that had blocked part of the measure from being enforced.

The day that happens to me is the day that doctor is told to eat a bag of dicks and watches a patient walk out the door.

You have a right to lie to your doctor about guns, just like you already do with the hookers and blow.

I've worked with several docs that carry while on shift. With the shite that comes thru the ER, you NEVER know what can happen. Maybe a "brotha" needs to finish a job or some shite, those ambulance doors are not bullet proof. Just another way the man is trying to take control

What if the Dr. Doesn't know shite about a guns and tells someone something that's gets them killed. Dr. Have zero business instructing a person about gun safety unless they are a certified instructor.

Understandable a doctor would be concerned about the welfare of a patient that owned a Glock.

Exactly!!

I was excited about the new Saiga AK I had bought and was showing it to my co-workers in the ER on my phone. One of the docs wanted to see, take it he is also ex military. He was pissed off that I bought the gun, said there is no reason for a civilian to have a gun like that. That those guns are for the military only! I proceed to ask him what kind of car he drives, he said a jaguar. I told him their are starving people out there that could use the $100k he just dropped on it and he should be driving a civic if he wants to tell people how to spend their money. He stfu real quick. He also voted for Obama btw.

Dr. Tyger, if I'm not mistaken, isn't it part of the psych eval on most patients that they are asking this on mainly? I don't think they would ask this on your day to day check up.

Part of the psych eval is asking if they have thoughts of hurting themselves or hurting others.

Then if they have a plan.

If their plan involves using a gun, then and only then is when it is appropriate for a doctor to ask if the patient has guns.

Right then a PEC comes into play holding them for 72 hours until placement. Just didn't know if that was a mandatory question that was going to be added was if they "owned" a gun regardless of how they intended to hurt themselves.

No, it's not mandatory to ask about guns.

Now obviously if someone is suicidal or homicidal and their plan is to use a gun and they have access to one at their house there's no way in hell we're letting them get to it.

I ask pts about guns on occasion.

what they carry daily, how they like it, what they have to sell, trade, and are looking for.

And as I have said many times I carry every single day inside clinic and hospital.

Are you allowed to in Texas?

It's against state law to carry in any hospital in LA.
