This question was asked at B1G media day:

Would Gary Andersen (Wisc coach) have agreed to a home and home with LSU instead of the neutral site games? "I would have said yes to that."

I'm not rushing to defend Alleva, but that's an easy answer to Anderson to give. There are so many stakeholders involved in something like that, it's pretty ridiculous to pin it on Alleva.

Alleva acts like he doesn't like neutral site games in interviews to appease the fans while doing all he can to be sure one is scheduled every season.

That does contradict Alleva's statements that no one wants to come play us here. This would have been an awesome series though.

Understood but it's important to the discussion. Of course the coach is going to say "yes" for a home and home. He's in his second year and probably had very little say on where these games were played.

..says that we can't find quality non-conference opponents to come to TS because no one wants to play in TS.

If UGA can pull off a home and away with Notre Dame, then what's up with this neutral site crap?

Even though we get to go to Lambeau, I'd have much, much preferred Madison.

Very true. However, this also comes out the same day that it's reported Barry Alvarez (the AD for real tho) is talking with an unnamed SEC school about scheduling a home-and-home starting in 2020.

Granted "unnamed SEC school" will probably turn out to be Kentucky or Tennessee.

Jesus with the bitching and moaning.

I'm stoked as hell about the trip to Houston and the one to Lambeau will be incredible. People need to STFU and enjoy being featured on the primetime stage.

When did football coaches get the authority to make their own schedule?

No it doesn't contradict anything.

shite I'm perfectly fine traveling to Houston to watch our Tigers. I will equally enjoy going to BR for the next couple of weeks after to watch us skull frick some lesser talented teams.

I'm pretty sure that coaches don't have the final say in scheduling, especially since the schedules are made years in advance and that particular coach might or might not be there.
I just wonder how the finances stack up. Which would make more money for LSU? A home and home with a major school or a neurtal site game?

Gents and Ladies:

Neutral site games are about annual income.

Home and home with Wisconsin means LSUAD nets about $4.5 million as they make next to nothing when they go to Wisconsin.

Wisconsin-LSU at Reliant then at Lambeau nets LSUAD about $7 million.

Beause LSUAD MUST contribute $7.5 million per year to the academic side of the universsity, home and homes become problematic.

I am hoping future SECN revenues will help with that...maybe.
