Just got released and I know we do well with these type of players who aren't every down backs. Thoughts?

No. How does this make sense? You think he'd have a chance to beat out Cadet? You think we're chomping at the bit to sign a guy to a crowded position who was kicked off his last team for breaking team rules?

Return specialist. Plus there is multiple other running backs at training camp this year that he can beat out.

You don't bring in a marginal talent this late in the off-season at a deep position.

Speed kills. I wouldn't say that our current backfield is very fast either.

You want to bring in a situational player at a deep position because he's fast?

Ya and as a return specialist. Read the article the coach said he was playing great until he broke a team rule whatever it may be.

Wouldn't hurt to have two of those types of players. I'm just saying Sean is very good at bringing out players best attributes and I think using him in certain situations could be beneficial.

Will have to wait and see what conduct he got busted for before making any more threads. Could be bad sh!t.

he isn't really a return specialist, at least not in college

Doubtful that he will return kicks

He said in an interview after practice that he's taking reps at KR and PR and that he expects to be asked to do both.

Interesting. I'm surprised we'd put a 1st round pick on KR duties.

He only had 8 kick returns in college and 18 punt returns. Didn't do well at either (averaged 22 and 4)

Payton said it's more likely that one player will handle punts and another kickoffs.

That was my other thought... Players are easily injured on kr so I wouldn't mind a true kick return specialist to keep our starters from being injured.

How many running backs do you think we are going to take? We aren't going to sign a guy just to do kickoffs when most are touchbacks anyways

From July 26:
quote:

Payton said it's more likely that one player will handle punts and another kickoffs.

"I think you have to find a unique athlete that can do both because generally there are different skill sets involved," he said.

Very true.

I trust Payton's words over Cooks'

You do have a point. Most kickoffs are touch backs now a days. I was thinking Ingram, Thomas, Robinson and I initially forgot about cadet. But I see other rbs like strozier at camp so did they never have a chance to make the roster from the get go or are they out there just to make practice squad. I just don't see a lot of speed in the backfield most of those running backs are similar. I thought a change of pace might work for a few handoffs a game.
