I forgot where I heard this, so forgive me, but they brought up the point that Payton's teams have been historically good on the road, especially in the early years, which happened to be when they held their training camp at Millsaps.

Now early in OTA's they've been busting out the noise machines, which was said to not be done before this early in the off-season. Pierre Thomas has also said that the run game has been more of a focus than any off-season he can remember. We signed Lorig in the off-season, who came from a run heavy system. 4 of our first 6 games are on the road.

There were other moving parts involved, but I think getting away from everything (White Sulphur Springs is really in the middle of nowhere), where the only focus could be football, coupled with the history of the correlation between Millsaps training camp and early road success, made it that more of an attractive option.

Payton is really into details, and I think this could very well be the reason they reached this 3 year agreement with the resort.

Sometimes it feels like the only thing Payton needs to do is commit to the run.

We do that, we win away games, even in the playoffs.
Robinson and, yes, Ingram can get us there.

By all accounts, that is his intentions. I don't think we've would have trade Sproles if that wasn't the case. Yes, he was slowing down a bit, but he was still productive. They could have reworked his contract to make it work.

I think Payton saw that he was tipping his hand with Sproles in the game, and Sproles was a limited runner.

It's also been an emphasis during the off-season for all of the backs to be comfortable catching the ball. We need some versatility and uniformity in our backfield.

Sproles abilities and SP's offensive mindset threw the opponents into a loop the first year. Issue is, defensive coordinators catch on very fast in year 2 if you don't adjust properly (As to why people said they expect a drop off in Philly's production, even if they had DJax).

It was time to get young as well, hopefully we found ourselves a injury-free Harvin/Jackson/Cobb

Yeah, best season we ever had was 2009 when training camp was in Metry, so I'm not buying.

That's not a strong line of reasoning. We did it the following 3 years and didn't reach the super bowl. We had GW too that year. You wanna bring him back?

In 2006, Payton had a young team (much like he does now), and getting away from everything helped galvanize the team.
