There's no way I can be disappointed three times in a row, is there?

The dragon or the movie?

ETA: Both Hobbit movies are a HUGE disappointment, IMO. Sorry you don't agree. To each his own.

Dragon scene I like. The barrels and everything else, no thinks. I'm tired of unrealistic chases.

The dragon looked great. In order to keep this thread positive, I'll leave it at that.

I love them but I don't take it as seriously as some. I find them fun and I just love being back in middle earth every time I get to see a new one. Were they both ridiculous, drawn out, and meandering? Yeap, oh well.

I think I will appreciate them more when I can see them in their entirety. It also has the unobtainable task of following LOTR. LOTR: The Fellowship is my favorite movie. I'm sure Star Wars fans feel the same way about the new prequels.

If you can seperate the two they have been good. I liked smaug much better than the first one

It is what it is. The first trilogy was top 3 GOAT

I have honestly tried to like LOTR and The Hobbit. I just cant get pumped about it. Ive watched them and they are ok but I just never got invested at all.

I like them both more on second viewing.

It's unfair to compare them to lotr. Which is what is being done by everyone at least subconsciously.

The only things I didn't like about the movies were the stone giants in 1 and why Bard was arrested without explanation in the 2nd.

Hobbits, Elves, Orcs/Goblins, Dwarves, Giant Spiders, a ManBearWolf, a Dragon, and an evil Sorcerer. Seeing a trend here?

I myself am pumped.

This is a valid point but I think it is unavoidable. Prequels have a tough row to hoe to begin with because of the very fact that they're set BEFORE the original movies. That in itself takes some of the suspense away. Add to that the fact that the originals were ultra popular and beloved and it sets a high bar.

I went into the first movie very eager and excited. But I found it disappointing. I never worked up the interest to watch the 2nd but will probably catch it On Demand or Red Box at some point. Doubt I'll see the 3rd in theatres.

I think that, as great as Jackson was on the first triology, I think that maybe the prequels might have benefited from someone else at the helm. The tone of the books is so different that a different approach with the movies, while risky, might have been for the better.

I'm checking in here as one who is excited about the trailer. I really liked the first two hobbit movies.

The LotR trilogy is the best trilogy ever put on film IMO, but I am able to watch these without comparing them too much to LotR. I agree that it's not fair to compare them, but also agree that it's sort of inevitable that it will happen with most people.

I think the first two Hobbits have been really fun and solid, and Smaug was incredible. But at the same time, I did get tired of the "unreal" scenes (like the falling bridge in the cavern from the first one) and stuff like that. Also, they are sort of "cartoony" if that makes sense. But this is all coming from a non-reader of the book(s), and I've been told (on here) that that's sort of how the books portray the dwarves.
