Man, they should just boot their car or something then they couldn't run you over.

District Attorney Jim Martin said the shooting could have been avoided if McCullers had entered into a payment plan
I would really like Mr. Martin to think long and hard about this statement.

They couldn't just go to a collection agency or sue him or put a lien on his car?

Okay... Let me put this out there...
An organization claims you owe them money for...convenience.
You don't pay and they send a goon after you, who you try to escape and he shoots you.
The boss says "if only he had paid his protection money...perhaps this unfortunate accident could have been avoided."
Who does that sound like?

Misleading thread title. The article you linked stated that when he tried to flee he tried to run over the arresting officer.

From the comment section
quote:
Eric Jaffa It should be illegal for cops to shoot an unarmed man. Even if a driver is trying to run over a cop, stepping out of the way and calling for backup is the safest course for the cop. But in cases like these, we don't know if the driver even saw the cop. Cops can claim about any driver that he was trying to run them over, and it usually can't be disproven.

Well, at least he'll always have a good parking spot now.

Sad that shot were fired.
But he welcomed confrontation with authorities by refusing to obey the law.
Sad, but that not shocking
