Mlb the show question

I am in year 2 with the Astros. I got my team together and then simmed most of season 1. My team is stacked with future studs, but they are still young.
My rotation consist of gausman, Ranaudo and Nola. Gausman is already pretty solid and Ranaudo and Nola have A potential.
Also have 3 other young guys in there with solid potential.
My question is, Nola and Ranaudo only have 3 pitches. As the years progress will those 3 pitches just continue to improve, or will it add other pitches as my guys progress?

I think if you have enough training points, you should be able to train them. They won't develop a 4th pitch on their own.

Look on bottom right corner of screen when updating. It tells you what to press to add pitches (maybe L1 & ??). It costs ~300 traing points to add a pitch.

Damn is that what all of those little points you earn are for? Where can you update people in the franchise?? Didn't know you could do this.

If I'm thinking correctly I have well into the 1,000's of coin looking things, which I'm assuming is used to upgrade. If this is the case I just need to figure out how and I can really help my pitching staff out.
This can't be used in online franchise I'm assuming correct?

Yea someone needs to clarify if you can upgrade in franchise mode and how you do it
