Are there any big changes? My battery life has been cheaply, will this improve it some? I was running 4.2.1 rooted, should I root and install cyanogenmod?

LOL 4.3. It's about time.
Anyways, yeah I would run CM on it, or paranoid android. I've been running PA on my N5 since I got it, and it's awesome. Just installed the Android L preview and trying that out for now.

I know it is pathetic to just now be getting 4.3. I'm waiting on my upgrade to buy the new iPhone, which I will immediately sell, then purchase the new Nexus phone. I'm ready to get away from Samsung.

Check out the XDA forums and find a nice rom for the S3. I ran CM for about a day and a half, but it just wasn't for me. It wasn't as stable as PA, and didn't seem to have the features, either. Anything would be better than the S3 stock image.

I'll look into it, thx.

Another update pushed through to 4.4.2. Is this the latest version or am I still behind?

4.4.4 is the latest.
Although Android L developer version was released a few weeks ago. L isn't officially released as a daily driver though.

Yup, I gave it a test drive for about 10 hours today. Most of the apps worked, but swiftkey didn't work correctly. I wasn't really surprised by that because of it's current status, but I went ahead and went back to PA. Immersion mode has spoiled me.
Oh, and the stock L keyboard sucks.
