- If I had a vote for most improved player very early in training camp, it would be wide receiver Nick Toon. Physically, Toon just looks the part and now is finally starting to play the part. He had a tremendous day Saturday and followed it up with another solid day today. More than anything else, Toon looks confident and his chemistry with Brees is growing. The two connected on another big play Sunday.

-------------------
Never count out the Saints developing players. Hoping Toon could turn out like Bushrod. Remember him? He was a 4th rd pick but saw just a handful of reps his first two years. Then he was inserted and started 62 straight games.

Official Camp Star! for real though, I'm rooting hard for him we need more consistency at WR.

Everyone here is acutely aware of the Arrington Syndrome.

I'm hoping Toon can truly bring his camp success to the regular season.

Then Jammal Brown got injured in preseason(and to expensive to keep as damaged goods) and he was our only option, but played just well enough to start 54 straight games(62 total starts but was injured a couple of games).
Fixed. Let's not play Bushrod up like he was anything more than serviceable. I have higher hopes(not necessarily expectations) than that for Toon.

He went on IR in his rookie year, and he was buried in the depth chart last year. The guy needs snaps to see what he can do.

Bone's post wasn't that negative at all.

Try re-reading it, Meat.

Bushrod was in that coveted "Better than Charlie Brown" tier.

Well it was in a sense, Blues was just saying a guy who was a late pick became a starter for us and did a good job at it. He had to come in with "Well he really wasn't that good and he was just serviceable." I just don't see the cause in posting that. We sure didnt have anyone step up when Bushrod left and take that spot over like Bushrod did when he came in. Until they finally put Armstead (I think he will be an All-Pro by the way) in we were in big trouble with that position.

I guess, and Brown's crappiness shows that Bushrod was good for us.

I expect him to come this year and put up stills-rookie numbers.

Considering the fact it looks like he's gonna need to split catches with

Jimmy Graham
Thomas/Ingram/Robinson
Marques Colston
Brandin Cooks
Kenny Stills
Joe Morgan (from the looks of it)

Exactly.

Nothing really against Bones, love him as a poster, I even voted for him to get the Colston. But sometimes he over analyzes peoples post.

Yeah that was basically my point.

I don't want Toon to be serviceable. I want him to become at least good. Like at least a little better than Moore was(outside that one year).

If anything, I'm trying to be a debbie upper and say Toon has much more upside than Bushrod.

You think we'll keep Toon AND Morgan?

If Toon can finally step up and Stills continues his progression and Cooks is all that people are saying he is, we will have a corps of WRs that will really make a difference.

Nah this is from more than just the first post. Nothing against blues but he touts Bushrod like he was a great find, and that he was "ready" when he took over when in fact it was an injury that forced him to be ready.

I want better than that for Toon. If only he can catch the damn ball when in an actual game.

Ok I can see that.

To me when we drafted him I thought he was the heir apparent to Colstons spot, as I thought Stills was the heir apparent to Moores spot.
