I've done this before with fair results.
This time, I will follow all directions perfectly to see if can I get excellent results.
Has any OB'er done this? Any tips?

Yep, otherwise it's slippier than owl poop.

I've done it. If you don't have any down, just rent a floor grinder and get some diamond stones. If you need to take up old stuff, remember to dilute the muratic acid. I found that out the hard way and was regretting it for two weeks.
Get a kit that is as thick as possible with the most solids. I think I used a kit from epoxy-coat.com, but I'm not positive. Has held up very well to hot tires, oil, gasoline, coolant, and even a few wedding parties with no problems

We've been in the house six months and there's no coatings on the floor.
Should be able to just etch, correct?

Either chemical or with a floor grinder would work. IMHO, I'd rent the grinder and then etch with muratic acid. You won't get another chance to go back and prep once it is rolled on

Well, I didn't grind. Just etched with acid. (Hope this works)
Put the base color coat down on Wednesday and put the clear epoxy down on Friday afternoon.
Can walk on it now and it will be car-ready on Tuesday.

I'm interested in pics too. I want this in the house I'm building but the only quote I got so far was 5k for a 3 car garage, 10x13 "shed", and a 24x8 storage room. I don't want to spend that much but I don't want to apply it myself only for it to peal up on my tires after a while. I'm going to get more quotes...but might look into doing it myself.

That's why I want to do it before I move in!
I have just over 1200 sqft I need to cover. Does it have that high gloss look like in the pics?

I used Rustoleum kits for about 820 sq/ft. Two of the epoxy kits for the base and then two kits of the clear epoxy with anti-skid additive. I only used about 2/3 of the ant-skid additive as I think too much makes the floor too rough.
On the prep side, note that if your base is MDF and it is level with the floor, it will absorb some water. Tape it off at the base where it touches the slab.
I figure I've got about $800 in material costs.
