I think there's a good case for all the crap we eat contributing to the cancer rates.

Microwaves.

Not scientifically, of course. They've always seemed a little questionable to me, though, based on no real information.

But yeah, I think grocery store food could potentially have something to do with it.

If you live long enough, cancer will eventually get you so...

So what? You're still going to live longer than previous generations. And something has to get you- cancer, stroke, diabetes, liver failure, Obama death panels! Live all you can now and you won't care anyway.

Accidents will continue to be the number one killer in the sub-35 crowd so long as America remains first-world.

A common misconception about life expectancy is that we are living longer than previous generations, we are not, the average is increased because fewer people are dying early in their life. We have decreased infant mortality, and created prevention and treatment measures for 5 or 6 major diseases that at the turn of the century were pretty much fatal. In the late 1800s those that survived the first year of life and avoided contracting smallpox, polio, etc, had a good chance of living as long as they would today.

If you love long enough, you will develop cancerous cells. It is unavoidable.

If cancer is a mutation of cells and evolution is just a series of random mutations, then shouldn't we be glad so many people are getting cancer as that means we're evolving? I mean surely sooner or later we'll find a form of cancer that's beneficial... right?

I have for a long time had a conspiracy theory that preservatives becoming more prevalent and lack of regulation for them is a way to counteract rising population and offset the advances made in modern medicine.
