I have a 40 that I keep as a truck gun but have always wanted a 22 revolver. I really like the Ruger and am ready to make a purchase . The only thing holding me back is the inability to find ammo. What's the deal with 22lr? I was in Walmart the other day buying a gun for my son. I bet in the 30 minutes I was there no less than 15 people came by asking about 22 ammo. The sales guy said that happens all day long. I have a couple small boxes at home now but would like to purchase more. I guess I don't understand the need to have 10k rounds of 22 on hand.

A single six with a lr and mag cylinder is a very badass heirloom quality revolver.

Everyone should own one.

Why would anyone choose a Heritage over a Single Six?

Both will go bang.

Do you want a XL or an XLT.

it will fire the same.. every single time
it looks the same
it comes with both cylinders
it is $200... single six is three times that.
i would think twice about beating around in the woods with a single 6 because of cost.. with the herritage i do not think twice.

i paid a little extra and got the one with both cylinders and the fiber optic adjustable sight.. awesome revolver for the price and never an issue

Maybe from 50 yards?

Buy what you like. To be honest I am amazed that we have reached a point where the Single Six is considered top of the line or too expensive.

Because they don't know any better. The ruger is time tested.

And worth every penny. I think they can be found for 550.

Yes a heritage will go bang almost every time. It won't do it nearly as long, won't be as accurate doing it, won't look as good doing it, and won't handle abuse while doing it.

I haven't picked up a production 22 revolver that felt better built than the single six. Smith made some very fine ones back in the heyday as did Colt, but the single six is ontop the less than $1000 totem pole IMO. Smith's current .22 is the best double action but runs about $800 IIRC.

The single six is one of the few examples of an extremely well made wheelgun priced under $800

i didnt say it was top of the line or too expensive. i just said for a 22lr gun to beat around in the woods with i would rather a $200 than $600 gun. If your okay with beating up a $600 gun thats fine lol, its your money! I like nice guns also, i have a benelli montefeltro silver that i paid dearly for "or at least i think it cost alot", and i dont duck hunt with it or even take it in the woods. It is strictly for the field dove hunting.

My dad bought my son a heritage for his 9th bday last year. It's a fun little gut to shoot.

And I kinda thought the 22LR shortage was over. I bought a couple of bricks here and there over the last year and quit looking for it.

It doesn't hurt my feelings to get a little ding on an expensive gun. It's still a tool. I'm not buying a gun that I'm afraid to use.

Quality stuff is made to handle some abuse.
