Tide Question

Planning a trip to go crabbing South of Hackberry this week. Looking at tidal charts for Louisiana, I don't see any for Sabine Refuge/Holly Beach area- or I'm not looking for the right thing.
Can anyone here point me where I need to go?
Also, for crabbing, does it matter if tide is coming in or going out?

What I need to know, I guess, is which one of those affect the Hackberry area.

That is awesome. Would I have to download the Iphone or IPod version for an LG G2 and is it free?

The crabs are on this time of year. Just get there real early so you don't have to compete with all the coons for a spot and it's not hot as hell outside. Better yet, if you have a boat go into the refuge.
When you launch, go underneath the bridge and go south. Take a right. When you get to the fork in the canal, take a left and crab the second bridge on the right. You're welcome
We'll need pictures when you smoke em.

quote:Thanks. I'm new to smart phones, etc. I thought app purchases were added monthly. If that is a one-time only, that is a deal. Being I only use it once or twice a year I would be interested at that price.
think it was a dollar or two, but it's the best tide ap out there. I have an iPhone so I don't know about android. Here's a website with tide info for calcasieu pass LINK

quote:Much good info there. Thank you. Taking kids and in-laws though so can't use boat. We used to shrimp in the ship channel. Is that where you're pointing me? I know we'd catch a lot of crabs in our shrimp trawl and often thought of going park on the levee there. Been YEARS since I've been in the channel itself though.

We're looking at going during the week so do you think crowds will be a problem on a Tuesday or Wed?

We stopped 2 asians dudes in different boats and bought crabs yesterday. First boat yielded 17 big crabs for $15. Second boat yielded 32 big crabs and 57 smaller crabs for $60. We spent the rest of the day cleaning crabs then cooked a sauce.
Tide question I'd say either would keep bait moving...

I just directed you to Sabine Refuge, If you're putting in at the Big Gras Marais. That's the launch that leads to oyster bayou and Sabine Refuge.
It will be considerably less crowded on a weekday.

Crabs don't care about tides. They are always looking to eat and be eaten.
