The United States shut down its embassy in Libya on Saturday and evacuated its diplomats to neighboring Tunisia under U.S. military escort amid a significant deterioration in security in Tripoli as fighting intensified between rival militias, the State Department said.

Hope they all get out safely. We don't need to lose any more of our people in these shitholes.

Why are we there anyways?

There is something really evil and bizzare about that side of the world..

I may never travel over there... I have the internet and google maps

Wait, so you're not a fan of getting reamed with a broomstick and then field dressed like Bambi?

Has Obama heard of this yet?

Forward March

to every one of you that voted for this administration. The world is crumbling before our eyes and your dear messiah couldn't care less.

Do you think Obama will learn anything from the United States' experience with Libya? The malcontents do not want our ideas. They want our weapons. The weapons may be for their protection at first, but they will eventually use them against their neighbors. Supporting Islamic malcontents is a dicey policy. Support for those being Oppressed for backing western ideals should be our guiding principle, not just their dislike of the existing regime.

Obama has invariably offered support to any group opposing an existing regime, or withdrawn support from an existing regime dependent on our protection. It backfired in Libya and Egypt. The outcomes of his policies do not look good in Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan.

Could not agree more.

It's frightening to think what 2 and a half more years of this foreign policy will yield.

Exactly, but we have to remember that we have the best voting system in the world and the majority of the voting public wanted this. Right, wrong, or indifferent, we the people get what we wanted (see my previous post).

The US electorate is getting exactly what it voted for and deserves.

"There's literally a war going on in Libya, as I reported here a few days ago. 15 people killed tonight at the Tripoli airport and another 70 injured. On Monday, 7 were killed and 35 wounded at a hospital in Benghazi. The country is spiraling out of control, and Operation Dignity is right in the middle of it. Operation Dignity forces are the ones Khatallah was fighting on the day the U.S. forces picked him up after he got home from a hard day at war."

NHTIGER, July 11th

Surprised it took this long to evacuate. Libya has no real government to speak of these days and has been in a state of chaos for many months.
