I liked the Alamo and 300.

Not the plot and acting so much as the badassery of dudes that know they will lose but give the enemy all kinds of hell.

Full Metal Jacket - closest depiction of Marine Corps boot camp ever.

One my favorite Platoon Quotes ~ shite. You gotta be rich in the first place to think like that. Everybody know the poor are always being fricked over by the rich. Always have, always will.

That always bothers me. Is the 2nd half of FMJ bad? Is it that they are so disconnected in tone? are you just emotionally worn out by the time they get to nam to not care anymore? At that point, are you just watching it to get through it? Did he do that on purpose?

it bugs me too. it's not that it's bad, it's just that it doesnt have the same resonance to me.

It is a different tone. Probably for a reason; I haven't watched it in a while.

For me it felt like I had just started watching a different movie all together.

I know the Vietnam war is central to the plot and they were POWs, but I've never considered this a "war movie".
