I figured this deserved a mention as it's a popular on this board. This seems like a wise move for them. Looking forward to easier reservations. I'm less interested in the daiquiri and wing shop, but I'll give them a shot too.

Boucherie is moving into Cafe Granada's old home.

Chef Nathanial Zimet and manager James Denio like to travel and pick up ideas to employ at Boucherie. On their journeys in Louisiana, they couldn't help but notice how good the frozen daiquiris were outside New Orleans. So they've decided to move Boucherie around the corner to the former Cafe Granada space on Carrollton Avenue. The Creole cottage on Jeannette Street, Boucherie's current home, will be remade as a daiquiri and chicken wing shop.

The new Carrollton Avenue location will give Boucherie at least 17 extra seats and a waiting area

quote:

Boucherie will be closed from Aug. 16 to Sept. 9. Rather than take another research trip, Denio and Zimet will use that time to ready Boucherie's new space and refine the wing shop's menu.

If all goes as planned, Boucherie will move to Carrollton Avenue in early October. The daiquiri and wing shop will open a few weeks later.

"Right now is the fun stage, because it's conceptual," Denio said. "We've had a lot of daiquiri experimentation. A lot of drunk nights."

They gain 17 seats with the move. That like doubles their original capacity

The waiting area will go a long way in terms of encouraging walk ins as well as managing long waits with an accessible bar.

Nice. I love everything about Boucherie. Last time I ate there, I was wearing jeans, drinking a Stone SSR, and Wilco was playing in the background.

Did they make a journey to Ascension parish?

I'm not a regular at Boucherie, but now I live in the hood and would like to hit it more often.

Do they have a good beer selection? Don't think I've ordered beer there in the past.

They do a really good job for a small restaurant. Handful of taps. Maybe 25 bottles that cover a wide range of styles. And they made good choices. You can see the current list on their website.

They have The Bruery Bottleworks XII available right now. That's a highly regarded wild that I haven't even seen on shelves here.

Yea it's not too bad, and relatively inexpensive. I think i usually get a Weinstephaner Hef there which is like $4.

Gotta get that Leonidas demographic.

Good for Boucherie. The old house was cramped as hell.

GTFO, that's where I live. I don't like either of those things.

I'm totally lying. Now I know what I'm having for supper.

I think the old spot had a really nice cozy feel, but it was too small. Boucherie had a reputation for being difficult to get into. That's not a bad thing, unless you only have 8 tables.

I think adding space will allow more people to enjoy their food.

Question: Having never been to Cafe Granada, what kind of space are we talking about? Is it similar to Lebanon or Thai Mint?

Wife and I ate lunch here today for the first time. Place was packed at 1:00, but the bar was open. We had my wife, little wicket and me and another couple came in behind us. They offered us the spots at the bar. The 3 of us squeezed into two bar stools so they could have the other 2 spots.

Very pressed with the food...

Love Boucherie. Skeptical about the change of atmosphere, but I understand totally. I loved the vibe. But it's a terrific restaurant for the price.

I share your skepticism. Boucherie doesn't work as well in a glorified strip mall. Wish they could have found a bigger space that was similar in feel. Guess that's a tall order.
